Heart Render

My entry for the club's Valentine's Day monster contest, hosted by SmilingFeline!


Beware to those who would be unfaithful on Valentine's Day!  
Those who cheat on their partners at any time during that 24 hour period will unwittingly summon the Heart Render, a Botfly Demon with only one murderous goal in mind.
The Heart Render will seek the unfaithful out, latch on to their face, and use its long proboscis to implant an egg inside their stomach.  The egg's outer membrane will melt on contact with the victim's stomach acid, and the newly hatched larvae will begin to grow rapidly.
In order to save their own life, the unfaithful must confess their indiscretion to their partner, and present them with no less than 12 roses, a box of chocolates, and jewelry of some variety.  
If the unfaithful fails to accomplish this task by the end of the day, the demon larvae will tear its way through the victim's stomach, and head straight for their heart, which it will then consume at its own leisure.   
If the unfaithful succeeds in their task, regardless of whether or not their partner forgives them, the demon larvae will dissolve inside the victim's stomach instead, but not without leaving a final, painful reminder of what they have done.  
For an entire year after the demon larvae dissolves, the victim will experience severe heartburn, excruciating stomach spasms, and anything that passes through their digestive system will burn the entire way out.  Any medical treatments will be completely ineffective, as the affliction is magical in nature.
You have been warned!  


This creature was inspired by the Grimslaw Demon from the Buffy: The Vampire Slayer television series.
